Description

The MDTEK MDV8K is a combination-head underwater light for video, photography, inspection and visual support in technical diving. It integrates a wide light source to illuminate the scene and an auxiliary spot beam for orientation, signalling and selective lighting.

This commercial configuration is supplied with a backmount cable and a 77.7 Wh canister battery. The set is designed to be integrated into a technical diving configuration where the canister, cable and light head are secured and do not interfere with valves, hoses, inflators or emergency procedures.

Important: this is a video and visual support light. It should not be considered on its own as a primary safety light for technical diving; keep the primary and backup lights required by your dive plan and training.

Technical specifications

  • Wide beam: 8,000 lm · 120° · 6,000 K · 10 Cree XPL LEDs

  • Modes: Spot 100%, spot 25%, spot + wide, wide 100% and wide 25%
  • Control: Rotary magnetic switch
  • Construction: T6061 aluminium alloy · declared IPX8 waterproofing

The published values for the 77.7 Wh battery are approximately 120 minutes with the spot beam at 100%, 90 minutes with the wide beam at 100%, 500 minutes with the spot beam at 25% and 350 minutes with the wide beam at 25%. No burn time is declared for the spot + wide mode. Actual burn time depends on temperature, battery age, charging history, selected level and manufacturing tolerances.

Use and maintenance

  • Inspect the seals, closure, glass, cable, connectors, contacts and mount before every dive.
  • Use the supplied charger, charge in a dry, ventilated place and never leave the battery charging unattended.
  • Do not switch the light on at high power out of the water, except for a brief, supervised test: the light head needs water cooling.
  • After diving, rinse with fresh water, dry thoroughly, and do not open or disconnect the unit if there is moisture on the contacts or canister.
  • If there is flooding, smoke, abnormal heat, swelling, an unusual smell, flickering or erratic behaviour, take the equipment out of service and contact technical support.
